Karnataka’s Digital Media Begin US-Focused Expansion

Bengaluru, Karnataka: The regional digital media platform Kannada News Today and its English-language partner site Timesnib have quietly initiated a US-focused content expansion, marking a step toward broader international engagement.

Founded in 2019 by Satish Raj Goravigere, Kannada News Today has primarily catered to Kannada-speaking audiences with coverage in current affairs, entertainment, and technology. Over time, its English-language partner Timesnib was developed to provide a parallel stream of content aimed at a wider readership.

In early 2025, the group began collaborations with news distribution networks in the United States. While details remain limited, the move appears to be part of a long-term strategy to widen the reach of regional reporting and adapt content for international relevance.

The team behind the platforms has previously experimented with digital innovations, including the use of AI-generated anchors for video segments. The group has also been involved in regional journalism support efforts, including awards and training programs.

As part of this expansion, Timesnib is expected to handle stories with a global or diaspora angle, while continuing to share updates linked to its Indian readership. Though still in early stages, the effort reflects an increasing interest among Indian digital publishers to engage with international audiences, particularly in regions with a growing Kannada-speaking community.

The platforms have not formally announced the US expansion on their websites, but updates to content themes and distribution patterns suggest the shift is already underway.

The move reflects a broader trend among Indian digital publishers who are exploring cross-border engagement, particularly in regions with language-specific communities. Both platforms are expected to continue operating from Bengaluru while contributing news and features tailored for audiences in the US.

Content is likely to focus on diaspora affairs, technology, and regional developments from India that resonate globally. While still in its initial stages, the expansion highlights how local digital media from Karnataka are beginning to participate in a more interconnected global news ecosystem.
