Jyotsnaa G. Bansal

Meet Jyotsnaa G. Bansal, One of the Early Researchers Linking Indian Philosophy and Numerology

When most people hear the word “Numerology,” they think of lucky numbers or future predictions. Independent researcher Jyotsnaa G. Bansal believes there is another way to study the subject. Through her academic work, she is studying Numerology as part of Indian philosophy and Indian Knowledge Systems, bringing a fresh point of view to a field that has received limited academic attention.

Her latest research paper, published in Prajnā, a respected research journal of Poornaprajna Samshodhana Mandiram, Bengaluru, studies the relationship between Indian philosophy and Numerology. The institute is recognised as an “Adarsha Shodha Samsthan” by Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi. The publication adds to the growing academic discussion on Indian Knowledge Systems.

The Road to Independent Research

Jyotsnaa’s path into research did not begin in a university classroom. She holds master’s degrees in Commerce and Human Resource Management and spent more than 13 years working in the Human Resources field. Over time, her interest in various topics of Indian Knowledge Systems, Sanskrit, Ayurveda, Yoga and Numerology grew into a serious academic pursuit.

Instead of keeping this interest as a personal study, she chose to present her work through research papers and academic conferences. This step helped her bring Numerology within the framework of Indian knowledge into formal academic discussion.

Taking Indian Knowledge to Academic Forums

Over the past few years, Bansal has presented research papers at national and international conferences on Indian Knowledge Systems, Puranas, Ayurveda, the Chakra system and Numerology. Her work has been presented at prestigious institutions such as St. Stephen’s College, Central Sanskrit University, and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University.

One of her earlier papers on “Ayurvedic Numerology” was selected among the first ten papers at a University of Delhi conference. The conference souvenir carrying the paper was released by the then Hon’ble Education Minister, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan. The research later received wider public attention through an article published in Panchjanya on National Ayurveda Day 2025.

Her latest paper continues this work by studying Numerology through the ideas found in Indian philosophy. Rather than treating numerology only as a method for prediction, the paper studies its place within India’s traditional knowledge systems and encourages further academic discussion on the subject.

Bringing Traditional Knowledge to More Readers

Research is only one part of Jyotsnaa’s work. She is also an Author, Columnist, Reiki Grandmaster, Numerologist, Counsellor and Crystals Guide. She writes on Indian Knowledge systems, Spirituality, Sanskrit, Numerology, and daily life related subjects for publications such as The Daily Guardian and Panchjanya. She also serves as the Managing Editor of ASMITAA, an international peer-reviewed academic magazine focused on Indian Knowledge Systems, philosophy, culture, yoga, spirituality and related subjects.

In 2024, she published Hypothyroidism Healed: Combined Holistic Approach – Yoga, Reiki, Mantra & Crystals, a book based on her personal healing experience and holistic practices.

Plans for Future Research

Jyotsnaa’s work has also received academic recognition. In 2026, she was honoured with the Arundhati – International Vidushi Pratibha Samman at the University of Lucknow by Global Sanskrit Forum for her contribution to research, literature, and Indian knowledge traditions.

As interest in Numerology in the context of Indian Knowledge Systems continues to grow, Jyotsnaa G. Bansal hopes her research will encourage more scholars to study Numerology through academic research and open new discussions around the subject and add value to the country’s intellectual heritage.
