The journey of Omkar began with a dream shared by a mother and a daughter. Inspired by her mother’s passion and unwavering belief in her talent, Debasmita Sengupta decided to transform that shared dream into reality. With a vision filled with original ideas and compositions, she laid the foundation of a band that would stand for artistic authenticity and female leadership.
In an environment where women are rarely encouraged to lead bands, Debasmita’s determination became the driving force behind Omkar’s creation.

Arkaprava Guchhait, a school friend of Debasmita, joined as guitarist, forming one of the band’s earliest pillars. Saikat Mallick connected through social media and soon became an integral part of the band’s guitar section. Later, Sayan Kantal strengthened the ensemble with his keyboard expertise, adding depth and texture to their sound.
Together, they built more than a band — they built trust, musical chemistry, and a shared dream of taking Omkar to greater heights
The name Omkar is derived from the sacred syllable “Om,” regarded as the primordial sound of the universe. It symbolizes supreme reality, divine consciousness, and universal vibration. The philosophy of “Om” — energy, resonance, and connection — aligns deeply with the band’s musical identity.
