How Two Students Built Coimbatore’s First Creative Agency – Xpand

In the bustling city of Coimbatore, known for its textiles and tech, two students from different colleges came together to create something the city hadn’t seen before—a student-led creative agency with a bold vision and simple motto: “Start Now, Start Simple.”

The Beginning of Xpand

In 2024, Sakthivel A, a student of Sri Krishna Arts and Science College, and Sham Amarnath C, from KG College of Technology, realized a gap in how businesses—especially local and student-led ones—struggled to navigate the digital space. Their answer? Xpand, a creative agency focused on storytelling, social growth, and branding that actually works.

What started as an idea between classes quickly evolved into a full-fledged agency, bootstrapped and built from scratch—no fancy offices, no investor funds—just pure hustle.

“We didn’t even have our own Instagram when we signed our first international client,” says Sakthivel with a laugh.

What Makes Xpand Unique?

Unlike most digital agencies that focus only on paid promotions, Xpand’s model is rooted in organic content creation. The agency offers:
• YouTube & Instagram content management
• Personal branding & business branding strategy
• Creative video production
• Internship training programs for students
• Software & digital solutions for startups

Their approach is neatly summed up by their brand philosophy:
“Social Growth Simplified.”

Xpand

Impact in Numbers

In just over a year:
• 20+ clients served, including 12+ international brands
• 5–6X growth reported by most clients
• Certified ISO 9001:2015 and Udhyam MSME registered

Building a Community of Creators

Xpand isn’t just a business. It’s also a creative launchpad for other student freelancers and editors, with a flexible team model. The founders mentor aspiring creators, helping them turn raw skills into monetizable services.

“We’re building more than a team. We’re building a movement where student creators can thrive,” Sham adds.

What’s Next?

With increasing demand and visibility, Xpand plans to launch its own website, expand into branding consultations for startups, and offer mentorship programs in colleges to empower the next wave of creators and founders.

Final Word

In a world that tells you to wait until you’re “ready,” Sakthivel and Sham are proof that if you start now—even if it’s simple—you can build something powerful. And they’re just getting started.
