On March 23, 2025, a historic educational and cultural event was organized under the joint aegis of the Bharatiya Shiksha Board (BSB) and the Bharatiya Shiksha Anusandhan Parishad (BSAP) at R.S. Global School, Barabanki. On this proud occasion, Ayurveda stalwart, the revered Acharya Shri Balkrishna Ji, dedicated a new subject to the nation for the first time in the world – “Self-Defence Science.”

What is the “Self-Defence Science”?
The Science of Self-Defense is not just a subject – it is a holistic way of life. It integrates martial arts, yoga, ancient warfare skills, and modern defense techniques for physical protection, while also placing strong emphasis on mental, spiritual, and intellectual empowerment.
This subject revives the ancient Vedic tradition of “Shastra and Shastra” (Scripture and Weaponry), and aims not just to prepare students for exams, but to transform them into capable citizens – protectors of the nation, individuals of character, and self-reliant beings.
The entire syllabus and textbooks have been designed and written by a team of experts led by Wing Commander Pushkal Vijay Dwivedi (Retd.), a former Special Forces Combat Instructor and a multifaceted personality. The subject is his brainchild and the result of 25 years of dedicated research.
Keynote Speakers’ Remarks
Acharya Shri Balkrishna Ji stated:
“We have dismantled Macaulay’s education system. The time has come for the children of India to receive an education rooted in their heritage. Self-Defence Science is a confluence of Indian culture, tradition, and scientific thought that will instill confidence, inner strength, and self-reliance in future generations.”
Dr. N.P. Singh, IAS (Retd.), Chairman – BSB, said:
“BSB is not in competition with CBSE. Rather, BSB is CBSE plus Indian knowledge tradition – a more modern, holistic, and integrated system. It not only imparts knowledge but also instills values and self-awareness.
The Bharatiya Shiksha Board is shaping the minds of our children so that Indian youth contribute to global science, technology, and services, and also become job creators, establishing enterprises that make India a Vishwaguru (World Leader).”
Wing Commander Pushkal Vijay Dwivedi (Retd.), Director General – BSAP, emphasized:
“With this curriculum, the complete Vedic tradition of Shastra and Shastra is now alive in the Bharatiya Shiksha Board. This is not just a subject – it is a movement that will produce invincible warriors in all spheres of life.”
On this occasion, the first school affiliated with BSB in Barabanki was also inaugurated.
